About Me

My name is Attila Ovari and I live in Canberra, Australia. I have a passion for life, including my family, adventure and travel. I enjoy inspiring and empowering others through developing both myself and others.
My beautiful wife, Kim, makes my life complete. Between us we have four children that are a joy to raise (mostly). We enjoy sharing the moments of our life with each other and our children. As a family we often work together as a team to ensure that we each achieve our passions.
I enjoy travelling both domestically, in Australia, and internationally. In addition to Australia, I have been fortunate to spend time in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and the Pacific. On these travels I enjoy living, seeing, understanding and participating in the local culture with the locals, rather than as a tourist. Though I have not yet travelled to Africa, it is part of my future plans.
Scouting is another passion of mine. I enjoy working with teenagers and seeing them grow and develop in young adults. My roles in scouting have been in the venturer section (Teenagers) and with international programs. Through scouting I have traveled to many countries around the world and made friends in more countries than I can count on two hands.
Work wise I have a diverse background including various roles in business and management. I have worked manly in the community sector and the military. Industries that I have worked in include Business Services, Market Research, Aged Care, Disability Services, Children Services and Construction. My current paid roles include Management Consultancy (in partnership with my lovely wife, Kim), Management of School Aged Care at Communities @ Work and Officer Commanding an Army Reserve Combat Engineer Squadron.
My formal studies include the following:
- Bachelor of Commerce in Management Sciences (University of Canberra)
- Diploma of Management
- Diploma of Personnel and Operations Management
- Diploma of Government (Management)
- Certificate IV of Training and Assessment
- Certificate IV of Legal Services
I am currently studying Masters of Business Administration at the University of South Australia

Hi Attila,
Thank you for following my blog!
Thank you for reading and following my blog.
Many thanks for following my peculiar blog (always appreciated)!
Just having a read through your blog …
Your words exude positivity and plenty of forward momentum. It is always inspiring to read how a person, faced with numerous, seemingly insurmountable problems remains positive and motivated. I don’t think the outcomes are so important (though happy endings are nice). In my opinion … it is the not giving up, making each day count, and the simple belief that persistence will — in the end — get you where you want to be.
Thanks again, and best of luck with your new business venture.
Good morning from Vancouver! Thank you for finding and reading the veryberryextraordinary stories in my life. I surely liked reading some of your stories. Nice stuff!!! As I gather, you are a very busy man indeed! But it’s so refreshing to hear that couples pulling on the same side of a string to raise their children, to offer them different perspectives! Cheers to parenthood! Christina
Thanks for following my blog! It looks like you are living life to the fullest. It is always inspiring when someone follows their dreams. I hope that you enjoy my blog as much as I have enjoyed looking around yours. Thanks again!

Thank you Attila for following my blog. It’s great that you enjoy working with kids and teaching people how to be inspired with life and all the aspects of it. To few people can’t wait to get out of work every day and then when they are out, they waste away their time. You sound like a good example to those around you and your readers.
Thank you for your kind words…. I truly believe that life is for living….
Thank you for following me and colouring a little bit of my day
I lived in Australia for a year whilst I was a live-in nanny and I have since spent time working with Family Services. I look forward to hearing more of your adventures.

Hello Attila, you have a very interesting blog here and I will be back to read more. I just want to thank you for following my blog.
Have a great day!
Thanks for stopping by and following. I noticed your blog is not showing up in the reader.
A little tip. WordPress (they
) suggest keeping tags to under 15. I have found keeping tags below 10 increases the post’s appearance in the reader. I searched topics by your tags for your post about “them” and it did not appear, but the post “them” has over 20 tags.
Thank you for the heads up…. I will have to keep the tags down to 10 then
I look forward to it popping up in the reader
Hello Attila,
Thank you for following me. Truely fantastic to read about your adventures, travelling but even more important your way of travelling; to understand and participate with the local culture. That’s the spirit!

I was born in Canberra, Australia. That said both my parents were born in Hungary and hence my name.
It’s good to know there’s a “good scout” out there. Thanks for what you do, and keep it up, mate!
Welcome as a new follower of my blog. It’s great to add an international voice and I hope you’ll comment from time to time. I laughed when I read about your travels and compared them to mine. Africa is one of the few places I have been! My son was a Peace Corps volunteer so that’s what got me there. I have a post about that, if you’re interested.
Oh Africa…. I so plan to go there in the future. It seems like such a beautiful place and yet there is much heart ache. It is a very wealthy place (gold, diamonds etc) yet it’s wealth is not playing out for the economic well being of the people. One day……
Thanks for following my blog Ovari. I love your blog
Thanks for following my blog. I’m glad you enjoy my work. Sounds like you are having an exciting life.

I appreciate that you love living the adventure and love to let the adventure let you live. I’ll be stopping by from time to time.

Hi Attila, loved snooping through some of your scout stuff. I did cubs and scouts in Melbourne as a child. One of my fondest memories was attending a huge Jamboree in Sydney around 2000/2001 at Cataract Park! Were you there also, perhaps we’ve met before? Are Scouts still doing National get togethers like that? I hope so.
Hope you enjoy some of my Africa posts as you plan your own trip! I highly recommend climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. I met a South African family on the Mountain (4 boys aged 12-18 with there parents) who were doing it as a family bonding activity before the eldest went off to college. All but one of them made it to the top and they had an absolute ball!
Stay safe,
Kazza
Hi Kazza,
Thank you for for comments and recommendations. Scouts do do Jamborees every few years not just nationally, but also worldwide. I was in Sweden last year for the World Scout Jamboree. It was awesome to be a part of the event with people from hundreds of countries.
Cheers
Attila

Hi Attila! It’s nice to meet you! You’ve certainly done a lot of traveling. That’s amazing.
My son was in scouting in the U.S. and reached his Eagle award years ago. Both he and my husband enjoyed going to Philmont, New Mexico, and hiking. It’s good to have kind, strong role models for our youth to emulate. Kudos for you for taking on that role.

Your blog made me miss Australia. My husband and I haven’t been back since we were college students. We plan to go back for our 20th anniversary in a few years. I can’t wait.

Thank you for your comment…. That is a good song, if it is the one I am thinking of.
I think it is so awesome that you are or were involved with Venturing. I was a venturer for a few years where I was President and Vice President of my Crew. Unfortunately we live in an area of small towns and the crew never really took off and we had to abandon it. It is an awesome program though. It sounds like you are a really interesting person and I look forward to reading more
Sorry to hear that the Crew never took off…. It can be hard in area’s of small town…. I have experienced this when I lived in the Snowy Mountains.

Attila, thanks for stopping by my blog. I enjoy writing somewhat as a hobby and business tool as well. I enjoy reading your posts. Nothing like relating to other people in other parts of the world to expand one’s horizons. I’ll keep watching from time to time.
Hi Attila, thanks for following my blog (www.lovelyspirit.wordpress.com). I hope the Encouragement for Travelers section on my blog inspires and uplifts you. How long have you lived in Australia? Is that where you’re originally from?
Yes, I was born in Australia and love the country. I do enjoy travelling and learning about other cultures and ways of life. The world is awesome
Oops, sorry for the misspelling of your name. Please correct my comment. Thank you!

Hi Attila! What a neat job to have! Scouting and traveling! I especially like your Vietnam tales. Being half-Vietnamese (having left the country in 1975), these stories really brought back some memories. I hope you will continue to post wonderful adventures on your site!
Thank You Linda. I do enjoy life and travel is an important part of this. I must say that Vietnam is beautiful, the history, the people and the countryside. It was awesome to go there twice.

First off I just wanted to say thanks for signing up to follow my blog. I really enjoyed reading about you and the work that you do. I recently attended a Eagle Scout ceremony for a great friends brother.
I was inspired by a friend of mine to take this adventure. He went to Ibiza, Spain to do some service work, as well as spiritual, life changing adventure.
Have a fantastic day!
