What Projects are you Managing?

DSC_2270I believe that most of us are managing projects in some capacity. Most of us would not call it a project, but it is. What am I talking about?

  • Work projects
  • Children’s medical operation
  • Running an event for the community
  • Organising a fundraiser for the local school
  • School assignment
  • etc, etc, etc

Why do I call these all projects? Well it is because I define a project as a temporary endeavour undertaken to create a unique product, service or result. So I believe that we all have many projects going on in our lives. Project management is a part of everyone’s life. The better we get at managing projects the smoother things will go.

This does not mean that we need a detailed project management plan for everything we do, however I would encourage you to think about some of the knowledge areas of project management such as have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve, knowing your timeline, the resources you have available and who is involved in the project. Ensure that you manage the risks and stakeholders is also an important area of project management.

So next time you have lots of random things going on in your life stop and apply some project management to your life. I think you will find it will help you organise yourself and achieve more in a shorter time frame.
