The Power of Getting Away.
What a weekend it has been… Here in Australia we have had a Federal Election and the government has been changed. In my part of Australia the weather has been stunning and it is as if summer has come early. Also this Saturday was the 7th Light Horse Bemboka Troop annual dining in night in Merimbula on the coast.
This dinner on the Saturday night gave me the opportunity to take the family to the coast for the weekend. Yes, I had a dinner to go to on the Saturday night; however we had all Saturday to enjoy what Merimbula has to offer, like Magic Mountain. It was a lovely weekend away with the family. In addition to this, I got to switch off from my work, business, scouting and army work for some time on the Saturday and Sunday. I was also being healthy and went for a run each morning.
As a sat down to relax on the Saturday, the children were engaged with the activities that Magic Mountain had to offer, I started to subconsciously empty out of my head the day to day stuff that had been filling my mind. Into this empty space flowed ideas for the future… While in this sense of flow I started to sort through a range of ideas and plans that I had been thinking about implementing. Through the disconnection of getting away I was able to empty my mind of the day to day stuff and see a clearer vision for the future. How important it is to be able to do this on a regular basis.
- When is the last time that you got away from the day to day stuff?
- Did a vision for your future become clearer?
- Is it time to disconnect again from the day to day stuff?
