First Day Back at Work after a Break
How do you feel when you return back to work after a break or vacation?
What do you do to get back in the Mojo of work?
Do you stage your return or do you hit work hard and fast?
Today was my first day back to my full time role managing School Holiday Programs for young people. It was an early start this morning as I had to go to the office on the way to opening up one of the programs. It was the first day at several of the programs for the Summer Holidays (In Australia it is Summer at the moment). If things can go wrong today is the day that they will go wrong…… So the morning was spent fixing up issues, while the afternoon was spent touring the programs to see what was happening on the ground.
The pace of the last week and a half has been quiet relaxed and so the fast paced work environment got the heart pumping. That said I think that by lunch time I had settled down and focused on the issues that were most urgent to deal with and let go of the others. By the afternoon I knew that in this role, which I started in December, will be challenging (in a good way) and will certainly keep me busy for months to come as systems are built to avoid the issues experienced today in the future.
To answer my own questions above, I guess I did jump back in to work hard and fast, though that said, I do not plan to wear myself out in doing so. I will be balancing my life with time with my lovely wife and family, exercise and other pursuits…. That said I am a little tired today and I think I will take a nap (sleep) after I walk the dog…… Wishing you an awesome 2013….

Hi.. I like to keep it all consistent.
Awesome… A steady as it goes approach?
Hello! I was just going to drop by and say “Thanks for the follow,” but I saw this post and had to comment. I do work [at a fast food restaurant], but I don’t have breaks or vacations, just days off. I can still relate to this post though, if I replaced “work” with “school.” ;D I’m pretty sure many students, including myself, feel like we have to just jump back into “school mode,” when we return to school, especially, if we’re in college. Some students are fortunate enough to have understanding teachers who postpone test or assignments till the day after our return, but some are not and just have to deal with it. I guess it just depends on the situation and the people involved. I’m excited to get back to school either way
Thanks for the follow! Hope you have an amazing new year! ^o^

Thank you for your kind words and comment on my blog…. Working and studies is a hard balance whether it is full time work or full time study. It took me a while to complete my first degree as I got busy with my business. However over time I got back and finished my studies…. However since then I have learnt that Study and development of self is important and something that we should always be doing…. Hence I work Full time and part time, plus have a business and am studying again….. Very hard to balance with family and community also….. However I do believe in living love to the fullest.
It is almost like you don’t have a choice. The work kind of dictates the pace.
That can be the case, though at times we do control the way we think about it and respond to our environment
I work in a very busy Emergency Room, so I hit the ground running! Usually Miserable and annoyed…But only my co workers know this…My patients think I and merry and bright! LOL!
I am glad to hear that the patients view you as merry and bright…. Customer Service at it’s best
Happy New Year to you Attila. I too went back to work today after a break. I planned it out in my head yesterday so that I would be ready to go this morning. I guess you would say I had a pep talk with myself to get me on the right track before I actually had to start.
Hi Tina…. Happy New Year to you too…. I am a fan of pep talks and I am sure your day went well as you planned it out… I hope you had a great start to the working year…
All the best to you and your family Attila!
Refreshed!

Nice start to the year
To be brutally honest, I spent the first hour procrastinating and reflecting on the wonderful 10 days I’d spent with friends and family. My work mojo was nowhere in sight….as I was imaging the beautiful waterfall cascading in my swimming pool and wondering how on earth I could just get back there . Reality kicked in eventually and I was back into the swing of things. I also ceased the moment to review my goals for 2013 so as to keep me energised, motivated and excited for the journey ahead! To living the life you’ve always imagined!
Sounds like you had a nice transition back into work…. And setting your goals for 2013. What a great way to start the year.
I worked after the holiday, and it was lovely because most everyone took the time off! I got a lot done and caught up on a lot of tasks that had been delayed. I’m a little nervous about work today, though. Everyone is back to work and I have a feeling it will be much busier than any day in the last two weeks!
I enjoyed the holidays, but I’m glad to be back into a routine.
Happy New Year!
It can be nice in the office alone to get much work done…. All the best for today and I hope that all goes well at work
Mate, my first day of work is the coming Monday. I am looking forward to it but desperately trying to keep myself from checking my work messages before then. I feel I should dedicate as much commitment towards my “play” as I do towards my “work”!!
Happy New Year!!
Happy New year….. It can be hard with all the technology we have these days to separate work and play….. However most of us know that we do some quality play time too
Good luck in 2013!
Thank you…. All the best for 2013, may it be a year full of dreams coming true
I’m slowly getting back into work after having a couple of weeks off, I needed the break I was pretty exhausted (I’m a domestic goddess..in other words I clean house for people) although I love cleaning, it helps to keep my mind free of clutter, so going back to work has brought about the sense of balance to my life again.
Oh by the way…nice to meet you and Happy Blessings for 2013
It is good to hear that you combine work with life balance…. Many blessings to you in 2013…
In this day and age..its Vital
Very much so….
Hi Attila, wish you a good start in your working life in 2013.
Many Thanks….. Wish you a a successful 2013.
