The Spirit of Christmas

Each year this is a Festive time of year for many people in the world. Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with Christmas. Many others celebrate Christmas as a time to give gifts and spend family time. Whatever you religious persuasion as the year draws to an end it is a great time to spend with family and reflect on what is important to oneself.

As the year draws to the end I like to reflect on what is important to me. Firstly I like to reflect on the real Spirit of Christmas. Christmas is the Celebration of the birth of Jesus and how special it is when new life comes into the world. Jesus came to the world and gave so much…. There are many lessons from his life for us to learn, thousands of years later.

The spirit of Christmas is also about family. It is a great time to spend with the family without all the normal distractions of life. It seems that quality time with the family is at a premium in today’s fast paced world. I find it important to allocate some blocks of time during the year for family. Christmas is one such prefect time for Family.

Forgetting the commercial side of Christmas, which I am not a fan of, there is also a special feeling about Christmas time. This Spirit of Christmas is a sharing and beautiful time. People tend to be friendlier and more willing to share. This caring atmosphere is additive. Beauty also comes from the Christmas lights and Decorations displayed in streets, homes and buildings…. Christmas is such a beautiful time of the year.

Though Christmas was a few days ago, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and I hope that you received and will continue to receive many blessings ……

  3. Merry Christmas to you too, Attila! Since the Christmas Season lasts until the Feast of the Epiphany in the Catholic Liturgical calendar — and until New Year’s from a secular perspective — I gladly accept your holiday well-wishes 🙂

    God Bless,

  4. Christmas is way too commercial. Many people have forgotten what Christmas is really about and sadly many others don’t even know.

  5. You speak the truth sir. This is my favorite time of the year. It’s a time to remember what’s important and to regain our focus on those who are dearest to us before we go forth into another year ahead. All the best to you and yours.

  6. The spirit needs to last 364 more days.

  7. Thank you for the good wishes! Merry, merry christmas to you and your family!

  8. Hope in the days ahead, we can always bless each other!

    Hi Attila,
I too love the spirit of Christmas, the decorating and lovely lights, the willingness of many people to greet strangers and open up a bit more than they do in their “regular” lives. My favorite things at Christmas time are getting together with friends and family, sharing a meal and going somewhere to walk around and look at lights and sparkly things, hanging decorations that hold their own memories, some from generations ago. These are also the times I remember from when I was a child; the times spent together at one another’s homes, food and laughter, the excitement people engaging in a common sense of togetherness create, even if their traditions are different, they converge this time of year. Thanks for a nice post.
