The Lights of Canberra

It is one of those nights that I am so close to home, yet so far. I am on the range and can see the lights of Canberra. The lights of Canberra remind me of civilisation and the urban lifestyle, while being on the range brings me close to nature and the simple life.

For me I have always liked nature and enjoyed being among it. I enjoy time alone to think and relax. Nature for me is beauty. I find in nature the beauty of life. Nature also gives me a sense of being alone. It is in this alone state that I enjoy time to relax, think and reflect.

The lights of the city bring me thoughts of action, achievement and socialisation. I have a drive and passion for action and achievement. I also enjoy the buzz of being around people. Action, Adventure and People are all parts of my life that play an important role.

It may seem that I am contradictive with the two statements above about nature and city lights. However both are important in my life. I require nature to recharge the soul, while the city lights drive my passion.

So how do you recharge your soul? What drives your passion? How do you balance these things in your life?

  1. I most enjoy moments with my wife and son, reading, and snowboarding!

  2. Hi Attila,
Great post. My “recharge” moments revolve around family, whether at home in the downtown condo or in our cabin in the woods. My kids are grown, we all live busy lives and I treasure the opportunities we have to reconnect with each other.

    • Yes, Family is quite often an area that people get a buzz…. I know that I treasure my moments with my children. I also at the moment have a lot of projects on and time is at the premium, so any time with my lovely wife, Kim or my children is precious.

  3. Great post Attila, I enjoy my day job, but my favorite time is heading home because I know that I will be able to read and write, which is my passion. Those few hours each evening recharge my soul. Have a great weekend, I plan too!

  4. I think it is precisely the contrast between the 2 ways of living that make it so sweet. I love to squeeze mountains and deep forests into my imtrnse life.
